A personal fav of mine is Alien of the album Quinella by the Atlanta Rhythm Section circa '81
Benny Mardones: Dream baby
Foreigner: Waiting for a girl like you
Bill Champli: Sara/The Fool is alone
Joe Cocker: Come on in
Randy crawford: Windsong
Kim Carnes: More Love
Captain & Tennille: Do that to me one more time
Valerie carter: ohh, oh, child
Jude Cole: Time to letting go
Alice Cooper: How you gonna see me now
Janey Clewer: Fallin' in love
Maurice White: I need you
Teena Marie: oh.oh la la
Rupert Holmes: HIm
The Front with the song Holy Night and Tommy Funderburke at his best. You can listen to the song on the you tube. Its at killer
I wanted to nominate Bill Champlin's 'Keys To The Kingdom' but it's too early for this thread (rec. 1978). I'll therefore suggest Pages' 'The Sailor's Song' instead.
well, i think that one of the best aor westcoast pure is
Sneaker - More Than Just The Two Of Us
Cheers!
My favorite Westcoast song I would say is Gino Vannelli - Living Inside Myself
This is a real toughie.
Hmm..

Bill Champlin - Tonight Tonight
Gary Wright - Really Wanna Know You
Robbie Dupree - Missin' You
Gino Vannelli - Keep On Walkin'
Toto - Takin' It Back
Alessi - You Got The Way
Larry John McNally - Just Like Paradise
Dan Seals - Late At Night
Sanford-Townsend Band - Smoke From A Distant Fire
Ian Matthews - Shake It
My fave Sneaker track on that album is "Don't Let Me In."
Great band, great producer (in Jeff "Skunk" Baxter). They don't make music
today like they used to. Cheers!

Two stand out for me...

I Won't Hold You Back - Toto IV
Hard Habit To Break - Chicago 17
In The Stone,by EWF.Although not definitive Westcoast(a genre that seems too complex to pigeonhole anyhow),it exemplifies all the greatest qualities of L.A. studio masterworks--fantastic horns, groove,Fosterboards, great writing, uplifting and powerful message, kickass vocals, unsurpassed engineering. To me,it was like a great leap forward in the evolution of music.
ok, i hope im right...

IS IT YOU - LEE RITENOUR and ERIC TAGG

=)
The Toto track Rosanna, no one will ever be able to play a half time shuffle groove the way Jeff did on that track, Luke's playing is pretty special too, and it's a great song I never get tired of listening too.
